As a child I had mumps in Leiden and started drawing maps from memory- India was my favourite. At school the art room became a refuge, and luckily this led to a foundation course at Camberwell.  This was great- life drawing  every day. Next came three years partying at Corsham, from whence I emerged thoroughly deconstructed and postmodernised, thereby getting an airing at New Contemporaries.

Various day jobs followed: doorman, van driver, zookeeper, VJ, retail display design. Alongside these was 'Closed Circuits' , set up with with friends from college to make installations to commission, and eventually
I established a studio in Nottingham, where the fashion industry was supportive. This led to a good run of shows in England and America.

Mastering a new technique is one of the greatest pleasures there is, and my picture making has followed a route through painting, installation, photography, 2D and 3D digital software. This journey progressed from Hoxton galleries to working in universities, first as an artist in residence, then as a lecturer. Exploring vector software led to some outings in London and Italy, and brought me back full circle  to the economies of drawing.

This monitor has become studio, office, encyclopedia, shopping mall, map, social network, music centre, cinema.
Currently most of my visual work is originated in sketcchbooks and developed with a scalpel. At least I get to stand up occasionally.
